Atlas Roof Replacement in Houston: What to Know First
Atlas roof replacement in Houston runs $11,500 to $24,000 for a typical single-family home, depending on the shingle line, roof size, and how much decking needs to come up. We’re an independent Atlas service provider, which means we install Atlas shingles but we don’t work for Atlas. Most Atlas replacements take two to four days on site, and we’ll walk the roof with you before anything gets torn off. You’ll know the price before we touch the roof.

If you own an Atlas roof in Houston and you’re seeing granule loss, lifting shingles, or what looks like accelerated aging on the sun-baked west slope, this page will tell you what’s actually happening and what a straight fix costs. Call (254) 566-3573 to schedule a free estimate.
How Atlas Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Pinnacle Pristine granule loss on south and west slopes. Atlas’s Pinnacle Pristine shingles carry a heavier granule load than most architectural lines, but Houston’s UV intensity and sudden downpours still take a toll after 12 to 15 years. You’ll see granules in the gutters and a patchy, light-colored look on the roof. If the mat is still sound, we can sometimes repair sections; more often, the granule loss signals the whole layer is near the end, and we’ll recommend a full replacement with a line that matches the home’s sun exposure.
- StormMaster Shake lifting at the nail line. StormMaster Shake is a heavier, thicker shingle designed for impact resistance, but in Houston’s wet-dry cycles, the adhesive strip can degrade faster than the shingle itself. The shingles stay intact but start flapping at the edges. We fix this by replacing the affected slope, and when we do, we hand-seal the edges as a secondary bond. It’s a small step that most crews skip, and it’s the difference between a roof that holds through July and one that keeps lifting.
- GlassMaster curling in low-ventilation attics. GlassMaster is Atlas’s fiberglass mat line, and it’s a good product, but in Houston attics that run 140°F in August without proper intake and exhaust, the shingles can curl at the corners. The issue is rarely the shingle itself. It’s heat and moisture. When we replace a GlassMaster roof in Houston, we inspect the ventilation before we quote anything. Fixing the airflow first means the next Atlas roof doesn’t die early from the attic’s heat.
- Decking rot under Atlas shingles after leak-driven failures. Every shingle brand leaks eventually if the decking underneath goes bad. We have pulled off Atlas rooftops in older Meyerland and Sharpstown homes where the shingles looked okay from the ground but the OSB decking underneath had rotted through from condensation and storm-driven water. We always quote decking replacement by the sheet, not as a vague allowance. On an Atlas re-roof, we check the decking with a screwdriver and a moisture meter before we sign off on the final scope.
- AC foam lines failing after pressure-wash or patch jobs. Atlas accessory lines and ridge caps fail when a previous contractor sealed gaps with foam or caulk that cracked inside a year. The homeowner covers a leak, the patch looks fine, then the next rain finds its way in. If we’re replacing an Atlas roof in Houston that has failed patches, we remove the old sealant entirely before we lay new underlayment. A patch over a patch never works here, not with the rain Houston gets in May and September.

Our Atlas Roof Replacement Process
- 1
Walk the roof and write the scope. Greg Holloway walks every job himself. We check the shingles, the flashing, the drip edge, and the decking. You get a written line-item price before any material is ordered.
- 2
Choose the Atlas line that fits your home. We lay out the options: Pinnacle Pristine, StormMaster Shake, GlassMaster, or the standard architectural series. If Atlas doesn’t have the exact color or profile you want, we’ll show you GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, IKO, Tamko, or Boral instead. The product fits the home, not our truck.
- 3
Tear off and inspect the decking. We pull the old layer, inspect the sheathing by hand and meter, and replace any rot by the sheet at the quoted price. No surprise change orders after the fact; if we find rot, we show it to you before we buy the plywood.
- 4
Install the new system. New underlayment, new drip edge, new flashing where it’s failed, then the Atlas shingles with the manufacturer’s nailing pattern. We hand-seal the high-stress edges.
- 5
Test and document. We water-test the penetrations, inspect the ridge cap and valley lines, and walk you through the finished roof before we call it done.
- 6
Put the guarantee in writing. Every replacement carries our written workmanship guarantee and the Atlas material warranty. The paper is in your hand before the crew leaves, not mailed later.

AfterWhat Atlas Roof Replacement Costs in Houston
For a 1,800 to 2,400 square foot single-story Houston home, expect $11,500 to $16,000 for a standard Atlas architectural shingle replacement. The Pinnacle Pristine line runs $14,000 to $19,000 on the same home, and StormMaster Shake lands between $16,500 and $24,000. Decking replacement adds $85 to $120 per sheet when rot shows up. Steeper pitches, two-story access, and extensive flashing work all push the number higher.
What moves the price most in Houston is decking condition and roof complexity, not the brand. An Atlas re-roof on a plain ranch in Katy costs less than the same line on a two-story Cypress home with three valleys and a chimney. We write the price before we start, and it doesn’t change at the door. Call (254) 566-3573 for a free estimate on your specific roof.
Why Houston Homeowners Call Tilehurst Roofing Houston for Atlas Work
We’re part of the Kingswell family of roofing companies, founded in 2000, and we built our business around a simple idea: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails. That’s the whole arrangement.
Our techs are background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who is on your roof. Every Atlas replacement includes the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything isn’t right in the first year, we return and correct it at no charge. And if we ever recommend a different manufacturer because it fits your home better, we work with GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, IKO, Tamko, and Boral too. A live person answers our phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No voicemail. No waiting until Monday.
FAQs
No. Atlas’s material warranty covers the shingles themselves when they’re installed according to Atlas’s published specifications, regardless of which licensed contractor installs them. We install Atlas shingles to the manufacturer’s nailing pattern and ventilation requirements, and we provide our own written workmanship guarantee on top of the material coverage. We’re an independent Atlas service provider, not a factory dealer, and the Atlas warranty still applies to the product. Call (254) 566-3573 and we’ll walk you through how the two warranties work together.
Most Atlas roof replacements in Houston run $11,500 to $24,000 depending on the shingle line, roof size, and decking condition. A standard architectural Atlas shingle on a mid-size home starts around $11,500, while premium lines like Pinnacle Pristine and StormMaster Shake push the number higher. We give you a written price before any work starts, and that price includes the line you picked, the tear-off, the underlayment, and any decking we agreed to replace. Estimates are free.
Replace it if the granule loss is wide, the shingles are curling across multiple slopes, or you’ve had more than one leak repaired in the last two years. Repair it if the damage is isolated to one slope or a single penetration with the rest of the roof in good shape. In Houston, the deciding factor is usually the age of the roof and what the decking looks like underneath. We’ll show you the condition directly and give you a repair number and a replacement number, then you decide. Call (254) 566-3573 and we’ll put both prices in writing.
Most standard Atlas replacements take two to four days on site once materials are ordered and the weather holds. Atlas shingles are widely stocked through Houston supply houses, so we’re not usually waiting on special orders unless you’ve picked a rare color or profile. If we’re replacing decking or reworking flashing, expect an extra day. We schedule the job with a start date in writing, and the crew arrives in that window. To get a specific timeline for your roof, call (254) 566-3573.
Pinnacle Pristine is a premium architectural shingle with a heavier granule load and a high-definition color profile; StormMaster Shake is a thicker, impact-rated shingle built to mimic the look of cedar shake. For most Houston homes, Pinnacle Pristine is the sweet spot between cost and curb appeal. If you’re in a hail-exposed area or want the strongest impact rating, StormMaster Shake is the better pick. We’ll show you both on your roof before you choose. Estimates are free.
