Boral Shingle Repair: The Houston Owner’s Guide
Boral shingle repair in Houston typically runs $385 to $940 installed, depending on how many shingles failed, whether the underlayment underneath is still sound, and how steep your roof is. We stock Boral-compatible shingles and matching ridge caps on our trucks, so most single-area repairs are done in one visit. Homeowners usually find the problem after a storm blows through: a shingle in the yard, a dark patch on the roof where granules are gone, or a drip that starts in the attic weeks later. Boral makes a quality product, but Houston’s heat, humidity, and sudden squall lines work on everything eventually.

If you’ve got a Boral roof and something looks wrong, you’re in the right place. This page covers what fails first, what a fair repair costs, and when it makes sense to call us instead of climbing up yourself.
Which Boral Models This Applies To
This repair process covers Boral’s residential shingle lines, including the Boral Asphalt and the discontinued Boral Steel line that still sits on plenty of Houston roofs built in the 2000s and 2010s. The most common Boral shingle you’ll find in Houston is a dimensional asphalt shingle with a heavier-than-average granule layer, which was the pitch of that product line before the steel profiles entered the market.
One compatibility gotcha we see regularly: Boral asphalt shingles run slightly wider than the standard architectural shingle. If you patch a Boral roof with a generic shingle from another manufacturer, the exposure line won’t match and water will eventually find the seam. That’s why we carry actual Boral stock and exact match aftermarket equivalents from CertainTeed and Owens Corning for the discontinued steel profiles. Matching the shingle is the only way a patch job lasts.
Not sure which Boral product you have? Check the underside of a loose shingle for a stamped code, or look at the original roofing paperwork from when the home was built. If you can’t find either, we identify the model by width, profile, and granule color at the estimate visit.

Signs Your Boral Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules collecting in the gutters or at the downspout base. Boral shingles shed a bit of granule early, but steady loss years later means the asphalt surface is degrading. In Houston, UV exposure is the usual driver.
- A shingle tab lifting at the corner after a storm. The adhesive strip under each shingle loses grip over time. Wind gets underneath and folds the tab back, which invites water onto the underlayment.
- Water staining on the ceiling or in the attic after heavy rain. That’s a shingle that has already lost its seal or cracked at the nail line. By the time you see it inside, the repair needs to happen now, not next month.
- Bald spots where the granule surface is gone entirely. The fiberglass mat is exposed and the shingle’s water resistance is finished. Houston’s afternoon sun accelerates this on south- and west-facing slopes.
- Curling edges or a wavy look across a roof section. Heat and humidity cycles make shingles swell and shrink. Once they curl permanently, they break and the underlayment takes over as your only barrier.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A targeted Boral shingle repair in Houston is $385 to $940 installed. A single cracked shingle near the eave runs the lower end. A torn section over a valley, a failed ridge cap, or damage that requires replacing underlayment and re-sealing flashing pushes toward the upper end. Steep roofs and two-story homes add a bit of labor because of the safety setup involved.
Every Tilehurst Roofing Houston repair includes the shingles, fasteners, sealant, and the labor to blend the repair into the existing roof so it doesn’t look like a patch. You get a written price before we touch the roof, and a written guarantee on the work before we leave. If the repair fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. That’s the Kingswell Way: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, put the guarantee in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the obvious: look at the roof from the ground with binoculars, clean granules out of a ground-level gutter, and take photos to send us. That helps us give you a faster estimate.
What we don’t recommend is walking a Houston roof in July. Boral shingles get slick with humidity, steep pitches are unforgiving, and a fall from even a single story is a life-changing injury. Lifting a shingle to “peek underneath” breaks the seal the shingle relies on, and using the wrong fastener creates a leak that wasn’t there before. Roof work is dangerous, and the repair you can see is rarely the repair the roof needs. Call us at (254) 566-3573. You’ll know the price before we touch the roof.
FAQs
Expect 18 to 25 years from Boral asphalt shingles in Houston’s climate, which is a few years shorter than the same product in a milder region because UV and humidity push hard here. A roof that’s been properly ventilated and maintained tends to land at the upper end.
Yes, a single damaged Boral shingle or a small section can be repaired without replacing the whole roof, as long as the underlayment and decking underneath are still intact. If the shingle failure has gone on long enough to rot the decking, that section needs to be opened up and rebuilt. Call (254) 566-3573 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in.
Most single-area Boral shingle repairs take 1 to 3 hours on site, including setup, replacement, and a check of the surrounding shingles. Larger repairs with underlayment or decking work take a full day. We’ll give you a clear time window with your estimate.
We stock Boral-compatible asphalt shingles and matching caps in the most common Houston colors on our trucks, and we can source the discontinued steel profiles through our material suppliers. If your color isn’t a standard match, we’ll order it and give you a firm install date at the estimate.
